Vice Premier stresses continuous policies to support rural development
font size

The government should continue its present policies on rural development and intensify its efforts to mprove grain production and increase farmers' incomes, said Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu recently.

At a national symposium on agricultural work in major grain-producing areas, Hui summed up the government's experiences of promoting grain production and raising farmers' income in the past year. But he stressed huge amount of work remains.

The major grain-producing areas shoulder the heavy tasks of raising farmers' income and keeping the nation's grain security, said Hui.

At the symposium, the vice premier in charge of agricultural development urged better implementation of the central government's policies supporting rural development. The future rural work will focus on further protection of farmland, reform of rural economy and enlargement of rural employment, added Hui.

More support should go to major grain-producing areas in both policies and investment, said the vice premier.
