NATO, Russia vow to strengthen anti-terror fight

NATO and Russia have condemned the wave of recent terrorist attacks against Russia and vowed to strengthen joint efforts to fight terrorism on the NATO-Russia Council meeting in Brussels.

They said the challenge of terrorism necessitates urgent and wide mobilization of all nations in combating this scourge.

An Action Plan will be developed to specify practical measures to fight against terrorism.

The recent brutal terrorist attacks in Russia include a suicide bomb outside a Moscow metro station, the downing of two airplanes, and the latest Beslan school hostage-taking in southern Russia last week.

The NATO-Russia Council was meeting at the level of ambassadors, specifically in response to the Beslan massacre which left 338 hostages and rescuers dead.
