Visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing said Wednesday in Riyadh that China is willing to develop friendly cooperation with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in all aspects and to promote relations with all Arab countries.
In a meeting with GCC Secretary-General Abdul-Rahman Al-Attiyah, Li said China, as a reliable friend and cooperative partner of the Gulf countries, will strengthen bilateral coordination to benefit the people of both sides.
Li said the relationship between China and the GCC has developed to a new era and China is ready to promote friendly relations with all Arab countries.
The GCC, established in 1981, consists of six Arab countries, namely Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirate.
Al-Attiyah said the GCC and its member states attach great importance to their relations with China and the council is conscientiously implementing the economic and trade agreements it has sighed with China.
The general-secretary also reaffirmed that the GCC and its members adhere to the one-China policy.
During his stay in Saudi Arabia, Li also held talks with King Fahd Bin Abdul-Aziz.
The Chinese foreign minister will conclude his visit here Thursday to begin his tour to Yemen.
