China's Olympic gold medallists arrived in Macao at about 11:00 Thursday morning for a whirlwind two-day visit.
The 63-strong delegation include 46 gold medallists of the just closed Athens Olympic Games.
Chief executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Edmund Ho Hau Wah, and Xu Ze, deputy director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the SAR were at the Macao Ferry Terminal to welcome the medallists at a ceremony.
The SAR government will host a welcoming reception at the Government House in honor of the delegation Thursday noon.
During their visit in Macao, the athletes will visit such sightseeing spots as the Golden Lotus Square and the ruins of the St. Paul Church. The trip will highlight at a Gold Medallists Extravaganza to be held at the Stadium of the Macao Polytechnic Institute, during which the athletes will join the local sport circle, students and residents in performances and games.
The delegation came to Macao after a high-profit visit to Hong Kong, where they met an equally warm welcome.
