Australian Prime Minister John Howard said his country will not to be intimidated by terrorists after a bomb attack on the Australian embassy in Jakarta which killed at least seven people on Thursday.

Howard condemned the car bombing, which also injured about 100 people.

"This is not a nation that is going to intimidated by acts of terrorism," he said in Melbourne, capital of Victoria State.

He added that he does not have to "revise up the security risk in Australia."

He said the bomb left a crater three meters deep just four meters from the embassy entrance gate.

"The information I have to date indicates no Australians have been killed or seriously injured," he said.

He expressed his sympathy for the Indonesians who were killed in the blast, promising Australia's cooperation with the Indonesian government to catch the culprits.
