    Shipbuilding in China

    Shipbuilding tonnage on the Chinese mainland will exceed 8 million tons this year, up from 6.05 million tons last year. The tonnage during the first half of this year grew by 66 per cent to 4.09 million tons, accounting for 14.4 per cent of the world's total. New ship orders received by the mainland's shipbuilders rose by 21 per cent to 9.9 million tons during the period, controlling 19.3 per cent of the world's total new ship orders.
