Iran condemns Jakarta car bomb attack
font size

Iran has condemned the deadly carbombing attack outside the Australian embassy in Indonesia's capital Jakarta, the official IRNA news agency reported Friday. "The attack is unjustifiable. Iran calls for cooperation of the international community to eradicate terrorism," Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi said Thursday.

Asefi also expressed his condolences to the families of the victims, the nation and the government of Indonesia.

The car bomb exploded outside the Australian embassy in Jakarta on Thursday, killing nine people and injured 182 others so far. The blast, blamed on Islamic extremists, destroyed the front fence of the embassy located in a busy commercial avenue in Jakarta and damaged nearby buildings and vehicles.
