Chinese State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan met Friday with a delegation of American and Canadian Chinese politicians.

Tang expressed his appreciation for the delegation members' contributions to the improvement of Sino-US and Sino-Canadian relations.

Following a brief introduction to China's progress in economic and social development, Tang stressed that China is actively pushing forward democracy and legal system construction while developing its economy.

The State Councilor said he hoped the guests could introduce China's development and policies to their local society and promote friendly exchanges between China and the United States and Canada.
