Sultan Qabus bin Said of Oman met with visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing Saturday in Muscat.
During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed relations between the two countries and ways of enhancing them for the sake of the common interests of the two friendly peoples.
Oman and China are cooperating on the international and regional issues, Qabus said, stressing the need for the two sides to enhance traditional friendship and deepen cooperation in various fields.
The Omani leader noted that he has given instructions to different ministries and departments to increase efforts to enhance this traditional relationship.
Meanwhile, he reaffirmed the country's consistent stand towards the "one China" principle.
For his part, Li said that the Chinese people are keen to maintain the traditional friendship between the two countries.
Thanks to the attention of the leaders of the two countries and the joint efforts of the two governments, the cooperation between China and Oman is developing and deepening continuously, Li said.
He also expressed his appreciation for the Omani government for adhering to the "one China" principle and supporting the cause of the unification.
Li arrived here Saturday afternoon for a two-day official visit to Oman. He was received at the airport by his Omani counterpart Yousef bin Alawi bin Abdullah.
