font size

Visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing on Monday in Cairo had phone talks with Ban Ki-Moonm, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Republic of Korea (ROK), over the Korean peninsular nuclear issue.

During the phone conversation, initiated by Ban Ki-Moonm, the two ministers exchanged views on how to solve the issue within the framework of the Beijing Six-Party Nuclear Talks.

Ban Ki-Moonm reiterated that the ROK government was willing to work with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to solve relevant issue.

China, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), the United States, Russia, the ROK and Japan have agreed to hold a new round of talks before September. But no exact date has been set.

Li arrived in the Egyptian capital Sunday evening for a three-day visit to Egypt, and will attend the first ministerial meeting of the Sino-Arab Cooperation Forum due on Tuesday.

Egypt is the last stop of Li's current Mideast trip, which has taken him to Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Oman.
