China has sent its first ambassador to Dominica, which established diplomatic ties with China in March.
Ye Dabo, Chinese ambassador to Dominica, presented credentials to Dominican President Nicholas Liverpool Monday, when he conveyed greetings from Chinese President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao to Liverpool.
Ye, on behalf of the government and the people of China, paid his respects and extended good wishes to the country and the people of Dominica.
Bilateral relations have developed rapidly since China and Dominica established diplomatic relations in March, Ye said. Cooperation and exchanges between the two sides in political, economic and cultural arenas are successful, he said.
He praised the Dominican government for its firmness in adhering to the "One-China" policy and expressed a sincere hope that the two countries promote and consolidate friendly cooperative relations.
Liverpool said the Dominican-Chinese relations, based on the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, have developed soundly and steadily since the establishment of diplomatic relations.
He expressed the hope that both countries will further boost friendly cooperation in various fields.
Ye, who led a preparatory team for the establishment of the Chinese Embassy, arrived here in May as a Charge d'Affairs.
