The "Trade and Development Report 2004" was released Tuesday by the United Nations Conference On Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and China's Ministry of Commerce in Beijing.

This is the first time the UNCTAD released the report in a place other than Geneva, according to Li Yuefen, senior economic affairs officer of the Division on Globalization Development Strategies, UNCTAD.

The report will be released in the world's major economic centers at 2:00 p.m. GMT Sept. 16.

The report, composed of two parts, provides a blueprint of global trends and prospects and analysis of the policy coherence, development strategies and integration into the world economy of major national economies.

The report calls China "one of the two engines of world economy."

The UNCTAD, with 188 member nations, is a comprehensive special organ of the UN for trade, finance, investment and sustainable development. The "Trade and Development Report" is an important annual publication of UNCTAD.
