Grain production to increase
font size

A senior official with the Agricultural Ministry says China's grain production will increase this year.

Speaking at a meeting, the official said driven by the government's agricultural policies and soaring grain prices, a good momentum in grain production has emerged. The summer grain harvest is better than any of the past four years, and is expected to be five percent bigger than last year's.

In addition, the five-year decline in the grain growing area has been checked.

The official adds that the target for this year's total grain output can be realized if there is no major natural disaster in the next few months.
