20 percent Chinese entrepreneurs women

Currently women are taking up 20 percent of China's total entrepreneurs, said Zhao Shaohua, vice president of All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) at a press conference for the 11th conference of the world's women entrepreneurs on September 13.

Besides the one-fifth proportion, as shown in a survey by China Association

of Female Entrepreneurs in 2004, China's women entrepreneur camp grew rapidly especially since 1996. Statistics show that as many as 60 percent women entrepreneurs stood out thereafter.

Over 95 percent of the medium and small enterprises led by women bosses are making profits. By the end of 2002, almost 40 percent of them achieved an annual turnover of over one million and 7.4 percent among them ten million.

The survey shows, 80 percent of the women entrepreneurs are aged between 30 and 50 and they have received averagely more education than their male counterparts. 55.8 percent of them have received education for associate college degree and above, 2.5 percent higher than men.
