As learned from Beijing Higher People's Procuratorate the anti-graft departments in Beijing would crack down on corruption in the health care, land management and transportation systems in the second half of this year.

An official with the municipal procuratorate department said the basic personnel assignment requirement is that the anti-graft police make up no less than 20 percent of the total people in the procuratorate. Personnel for the duty dereliction and rights infringement examination department should be no less than 5 percent. In addition technological content of the investigation work should be increased by fully utilizing modern technical equipment to detect cases and encouraging procuratorates with mature conditions to purchase high-tech equipment helpful in the investigation work.

It was also learned that in the last three years Beijing procuratorate departments at various levels have accepted 5,299 leads on various crimes committed by taking advantage of duty, and placed 1,563 cases on file for investigation, of which 1,044 are major cases and 423 are important cases. There are 257 cases that involve an amount of money above one million yuan. The cases involve 114 officials at the bureau level. About 667 million yuan of economic loss has been saved for the country. Moreover, 53 escaped persons wanted in the city for committing various crimes by taking advantage of duty have been arrested. And they have helped procuratorate departments in other localities arrest 70 escaped persons committing various crimes by taking advantage of duty.
