The Uzbek government has set Dec.26 the date for the country's parliamentary elections, reports reaching here quoted the election commission as saying on Thursday.
The election will decide 120 seats in the legislative chamber of Parliament, and regional public authorities will be elected on the same day.
The newly created 84-seat upper house, the Senate, will be formed within one month after parliamentary polls equally representing 12 regions, the capital, Tashkent, and the Karakalpakstan autonomous republic.
Election campaign is expected to start next week.
