No nuclear talks before South Korea's secret experiments probed: DPRKThe Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) said on Thursday that it will never go back to the six-party talks unless the recently reported South Korea's secret nuclear experiments are probed. "Consistently pursuing the talks is our stand, but the recent disclosure of a series of secret nuclear experiments in South Korea and the ever more undisguised hostile policy of the United States toward the DPRK have thrown great hurdles in the way of six-party talks," said a spokesman from the Foreign Ministry. The DPRK side expressed such stance to a British delegation, which visited Pyongyang from Sept. 11 to 14, said the spokesman. "We can never sit at the table to negotiate the nuclear weapon program unless truth of the secret nuclear experiments in South Korea is fully probed," the spokesman added. As for the saying that the DPRK links the settlement of the nuclear issue to the presidential election in the United States, the spokesman said: "The DPRK does not care who becomes the US president and we consider the US policy toward the DPRK as the only yardstick." "In other words, whoever is willing to renounce the hostile policy toward the DPRK and coexist with it can surely seek a negotiated solution to the nuclear issue," added the spokesman. The spokesman said the British delegation had an in-depth exchange of views with the DPRK on bilateral relations, the nuclear issue, human rights and other issues of mutual concern. "This visit of the UK delegation could be described as a very fruitful and successful one, both sides agreed to continue dialogue and cooperation," added the spokesman. "However, what the delegation said about the results of the visit makes us feel that it was not honest," the spokesman said, adding, "It is very strange that the delegation has uttered no word about South Korea's secret nuclear experiments." |
