Pyongyang warns "Hurdles" delaying nuke talks
font size

North Korea's government says South Korea's nuclear experiments and hostile U.S. policies are "great hurdles'' preventing the resumption of six-party talks aimed at dismantling Pyongyang's nuclear program.

North Korea's Foreign Ministry says Pyongyang "can never sit at the table to negotiate its nuclear weapons program unless the truth about the secret nuclear experiments in South Korea is fully probed.''

The U.S. and North Korea, along with China, South Korea, Japan and Russia, are scheduled to hold a fourth round of talks before the end of this month.

On Thursday, South Korean Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Ban Ki-moon said the experiment on enriched uranium has no links wtih nuclear weapons development, adding that investigation by the International Atomic Energy Agency will prove that.

South Korea acknowledged last month that its scientists had enriched uranium in 2000 without the government's knowledge. The South Korean government also acknowledged tests were conducted on plutonium in 1982.
