A new hydropower plant will be constructed on Xijiang River, the middle reaches of the Pearl River, announced Donghui State-Owned Assets Management Co., Ltd. of Wuzhou City, one of the two developers.
The plan for the construction of Changzhou water control project on Xijiang River inside Wuzhou City, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, has just been approved by the State Development and Reform Commission, said the corporate sources.
The new water control project will require installation of 15 generating units, each with an installed capacity of 41,420 kw, building of a 3.3-km-long dam with a maximum height of 49.3 m, as well as two 1,000 dead-weight-tonnage (DWT) sluice gates to guarantee navigation of ships and boats.
The project will be jointly invested by China Electrical Power Investment Group Company and Donghui State-Owned Assets Management Co., Ltd. of Wuzhou City at a cost of 6.15 billion yuan (about 742million US dollars) and will take five years and seven months to complete.
