Iran refuses to freeze uranium enrichment
font size

Iran said Sunday it would not agree to freeze uranium enrichment despite the adoption of a resolution by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that demands the country to immediately halt all such activities.

"Iran will not accept any obligation regarding the suspension of uranium enrichment," Iran's chief nuclear negotiator Hassan Rohani said. "No international body can force Iran to do so."

The official also warned that Iran would stop allowing UN snap checks if the atomic issue was sent to the UN Security Council.

"If they want to send Iran to the Security Council, it is not wise, and we will stop implementing the Additional Protocol," he told a news conference.
