font size

Top Chinese legislator Wu Bangguo Monday stressed the need to improve the country's capability to promote socialist democratic politics.

Addressing a group discussion with the leaders of China's top legislature, Wu said constantly improving the country's capability to boost the politics is a major task to strengthen the Communist Party of China's (CPC) capacity to govern.

The Fourth Plenum of the Party's 16th Central Committee, which ended Sunday, called for greater efforts to improve the Party's capacity to govern the country.

Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, the country's top legislative body, said China would walk firmly along the road of political development with Chinese characteristics. China will uphold the country's people's congress system in order to contribute to the development of socialist democratic politics.

He urged the country's legislatures at various levels to increase the political awareness of their deputies to exercise state power and continue to improve its work of legislation and supervision of enforcement of laws and regulations.
