Chinese industrial, commercial organizations hope to enhance cooperation with foreign counterparts

Representatives from Chinese industrial and commercial organizations were willing to enhance cooperation with foreign counterparts.

The representatives made the remarks here Monday at the World Industrial and Commercial Organizations Summit (WICO Summit).

Xu Kuangdi, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and President of China Federation of Industrial Economics (CFIE), said economic development of the world required industrial and commercial organizations around the world to play a promoting role.

He said the WICO Summit focused on exchanging new information, studying new opinions, developing new areas, and promoting new cooperation to build it into a platform for multilateral dialogue, communication, and coordination for world industrial and commercial organizations.

Xu also made suggestions for the cooperation between industrial and commercial organizations, such as keeping constant high-level exchanges under the principle of sincerity, equality and mutual support, strengthening the mediation and negotiation among organizations to avoid and dissolve potential trade frictions, as well as fully playing the role of the WICO Summit as a platform for dialogue and communication.

He said those contacts will provide a convenient channel for communication and mutual benefit cooperation in economy, science and technology, personnel, management and information among governments and enterprises of different countries.

Lin Zongtang, honorary president of the CFIE said those suggestions met with positive response from representatives of the WICO Summit and were regarded as an important achievement of the WICO Summit.

Wu Xichun, president of China Iron and Steel Association said with the development of globalization, the organizations were facing common issues. He expected to continue to enhance exchange and cooperation with foreign industries and commercial organizations.

Lin also advised to set up a summit website on the website of the CFIE to promote the understanding and cooperation with each other.

The first WICO Summit was organized by the CFIE, United Nations Industrial Development Organization and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade. Some 500 representatives from over 70 countries and regions, 300 industries and commercial organizations and 80 enterprises participated in it. The theme of the WICO was dialogue, negotiation and cooperation.
