The Indonesian police on Tuesday increased security measures at the residence of presidential candidate Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who looks set to enjoy a landslide victory in Monday's election.
Police sent bomb detectors and sniffer dogs to Yudhoyono's residence at Cibubur district in the West Java town of Bogor, some20 km south of Jakarta.
In addition to regular security guards, dozens of officers alsowere deployed at the house where the number of guests has soared since several pollsters indicated a landslide victory for the former army general in their quick count-based tally released Monday evening.
The Jakarta-based Institute of Research, Education and Information of Social and Economic Affairs (LP3ES) in partnership with the Washington-based National Democratic Institute predicted Yudhoyono to win 61.2 percent of the votes ahead of incumbent President Megawati Soekarnoputri who is predicted to obtain 38.8 percent.
According to the computerized tabulation system at the General Election Commission (KPU), Yudhoyo has won 60.2 percent of 71.75 million votes tallied as of 14:00 Jakarta time Tuesday.
