The latest statistics from Taiwan confirmed that there were 1474 cases of investment by Taiwan businesses in the mainland from January to August this year, up 21.02 percent over the same period of last year. The investment involved 4.396 billion USD which was an increase of 60.5 percent compared with the first eight months of 2003.

As learned that most of Taiwan investors preferred Jiangsu, Guangdong and Zhejiang provinces and injected 84 percent of their capital there.

Manufacturing of electronic and electrical products, basic metals, non-metals, plastics and chemicals were the five most attractive sectors which absorbed 72.24 percent of the total stakes made by Taiwan investors in the mainland.
