Putin appreciates results of talks with Roh Moo Hyun
Russian President Vladimir Putin highly appreciated the results of the Tuesday negotiations with President of the Republic of Korea Roh Moo Hyun. "We have discussed a broad range of bilateral and international problems, and we believe our dialogue was very comprehensive and resultative," the Russian leader told reporters after the talks.

"Today it can be said for sure that the relations between our two countries are rising to a qualitatively new level, namely the level of multifarious trustful partnership," Putin stressed. "Such partnership meets the basic interests of the two nations and contributes to security and cooperation in North-East Asia and in the Asia-Pacific Region as a whole," the president stated.

Putin stressed that the Declaration, which was signed on Tuesday, "indicates the key areas of political, economic and humanitarian cooperation" between the two countries. "We are determined to promote the political dialogue, the inter-parliamentary relations, and the contacts between public organizations and business circles," the president added.

"Our commercial and economic relationships are very promising," he noted. "We have outlined some concrete measures to broaden cooperation in the sphere of fuel and energy, in the transport complex, in the aerospace industry, in tapping the natural resources, in high technologies, in the communications system, and in fishing," the Russian leader divulged.

He specially mentioned "the large joint project to build a petrochemical plant and refinery in Tatarstan. Documents, adding up to more than four billion U.S. dollars, were signed today," Putin stated.
