No progress on roadmap peace plan
font size

The Middle East diplomatic quartet has found that no progress has been made in the "roadmap" peace plan but maintains its support for the proposal.

The group issued a joint statement after a meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly's annual high-level debate in New York.

The quartet consists of the United Nations, United States, European Union and Russia and calls on both Israelis and the Palestinians to do more.

They believe the situation on the ground remains extremely difficult for both Palestinians and Israelis and no significant progress has been achieved in implementing the peace plan.

The statement also urges Israel to uphold its obligations to dismantle settlements on Palestinian territory and impose a freeze on the construction of new settlements.
