    Photo exhibition in NY shows China's achievements

    Visitors view the pictures on display during a photo exhibition on China opened in Asian Cultural Center in New York Sept. 25, 2004. The exhibition was held by Chinese Consulate General in New York to show the achievements obtained by the Chinese in recent years.

    Chinese peacekeeping troops awarded UN peace medal

    Two soldiers of the transportation unit of China's peacekeeping troops on the way to Gbarnga Cantonment Site, about 160 km northeast from Monrovia, Liberia, Sept. 25. As the only professional transport team, the 240-member transport company sent by China is responsible for transporting materials, food and people for all peacekeeping troops in Liberia. The United Nations Mission In Liberia awarded UN peace medal to the Chinese peacekeeping troops on Sept. 14, 2004 for their performance in peacekeeping in Liberia.

    Museum in Guangdong shows world's first stamp

    The world's first stamp is displayed at the Postal Service Museum in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province Sept. 26, 2004. The world's first stamp, featuring Queen Victoria, was printed on April 15, 1840 in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland with a par value of one penny.

    First High Level Forum of the World Mega Cities Development opens

    The First High Level Forum of the World Mega Cities Development opened in Nantong, a city located in Yangtze River Delta where boasts most of Chinese mega cities, east China's Jiangsu Province Sept. 26, 2004. More than 300 participants, including over 100 mayors from 25 countries and 16 Chinese mayors of Yangtze River Delta, attended the forum for promoting exchanges and cooperation among the mega and big cities in the world.
