Jordan condemned Israel's assassination of Hamas member Ezzedin Sheikh Khalil by blowing up his car in the Syrian capital of Damascus on Sunday, Jordanian TV reported."Jordan strongly condemned the assassination, which aims to destabilize security in the region and derail the peace process," Jordan's government spokeswoman Asma Khader was quoted as saying.
Khader stressed the necessity of being committed to the roadmap peace plan to solve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
Khalil, who was said to be a Hamas militant leader, was killed in a car bomb Sunday when he start the engine and an explosive charge under the driver's seat ripped through his SUV in the Az-Zahera neighborhood of the Syrian capital.
Israeli Channel Two television quoted defense official as sayingthat Israeli agents were behind the death.
