British police said Saturday they have arrested four terror suspects in London who were reportedly on suspicion of plotting to explode a dirty bomb on the streets of Britain.
Three men were held in a hotel in Brent Cross, west London on Friday while the fourth man was arrested later on the day at his home address in north London.
Scotland Yard said the four were detained under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act: "on suspicion of commissioning, preparing or instigating acts of terrorism."
"Several addresses have been searched. Some searches continue," a Metropolitan Police spokesman said in a statement Saturday, with no further details given.
The raids reportedly followed a tip-off from the News of the World, a Sunday tabloid, which had received an anonymous call about the alleged terror plot.
All four have been taken into custody at a central London police station for questioning, he added.
