The headquarters of China's manned spaceflight programs Monday donated the re-entry capsule of Shenzhou V to the National Museum for display, the Beijing Morning Post reported.

The donation is made to mark the 55th founding anniversary of new China as well as the first anniversary of China's first successful manned spaceflight, with Yang Liwei aboard the Shenzhou V spacecraft.

In the wake of the donation, an exhibition entitled "Embracing Shenzhou" will be held in the National Museum from September 29 to October 23.

Besides the re-entry capsule, the exhibits will also include the China-made space suit worn by Yang on Shenzhou V, the video camera he used in the outer space and the video materials he shot during his flight.

China launched its manned spacecraft of Shenzhou V on October 15, 2003. The mission made China the third country in space after Russia and the United States, and marked the initial success of its manned program launched in 1992.
