Chinese DM highlights military ties with Serbia and Montenegro
font size

With their profound traditional friendship, China and Serbia and Montenegro and their armed forces should enhance cooperation in all fields, said Chinese Defense Minister Cao Gangchuan Monday.

Cao, also vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission and State Councilor, made the remark while conferring with Prvoslav Davinic, minister of defense of Serbia and Montenegro, who had come to visit China as guest of Cao.

The two sides signed a memorandum on cooperation between their defense ministries after the talks.

"In the new situation," Cao acknowledged, "the growth of bilateral cooperation and friendship serves the fundamental interest of the two countries and their people."

The Chinese armed forces should learn from the advanced experience of foreign military renovation so as to boost its own military renovation with Chinese characteristics, Cao said.

Davinic said China, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, has been playing an important role in international affairs.

The friendly, cooperative relations between the two countries and their armed forces are conducive to the world peace and stability, he noted.
