Paralympic volleyball: Iran seeks 5th gold, China for history

All medals in men's and the women's sitting volleyball tournaments of the 12th Paralympic Games will be decided on Monday, with eight teams vying for a place on the podium.

In the men's gold medal match, reigning champion Iran will play Bosnia & Herzegovina, in an attempt to not only defend their Paralympic title, but also to extend their outstanding collection, to five Paralympic gold medals.

The Asian team seems to be favorite, but Bosnia & Herzegovina are not a team to be underestimated. Both teams reached the final undefeated in five matches.

The final is a remake of the Sydney 2000 Paralympic tournament, won by Iran in straight sets.

For the bronze medal, Egypt will face Germany.

The Netherlands and newcomer China will clash in the women's gold medal match, with the Asians having won their previous match in the Preliminaries, 3-1.

But reaching the final stood a outstanding achievement for the Chinese volleyball players, who are competing in their first ever Paralympic Games.

For the women's bronze medal match, Slovenia takes on the United states, in a repeat of their thrilling five-set match in the preliminary round, won by the Americans.
