Gunmen kill four law enforcers in downtown Grozny, Chechnya

Unidentified attackers fired at a car on Saturday evening in the Leninsky district of Grozny, where there were three officers of the Chechen branch of the Federal Security Service (FSB) and deputy commander of the reconnaissance battalion of the Russian Defence Ministry. All the four died of wounds, Tass learnt on Sunday from a deputy officer of the Chechen Interior Ministry.

According to the duty officer, unidentified people in a Volga car with tainted glasses steered to a Lada car with the law enforcement officers. The unidentified people demanded that the law enforcers should produce their documents and opened fire on the car at this moment. Deputy commander of the reconnaissance battalion Alikhan Yakhyaev, senior officer of the FSB Chechen branch Alikhan Musayev, deputy section chief of the FSB Chechen branch Dmitry Molotov and officer of the FSB Chechen branch Akhmed Khasambekov died on the spot. The ˇ°Interceptionˇ± plan was flashed out in the city. However, it failed to yield any results.

The republican prosecutor's office instituted a criminal case.
