Chief of PLA General Staff meets Serbia and Montenegro defense minister

Liang Guanglie, chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) met with Prvoslav Davinic, minister of defense of Serbia and Montenegro, Monday.

Liang said the ties between China and Serbia and Montenegro have seen healthy and stable growth despite changes in the international community.

He stressed that the relationship between the two armies is an important part of the bilateral ties, and that the Chinese army maintains positive relations with the Serbia and Montenegro army.

The two armies have their respective traditions and characteristics, and are both undergoing adjustment and reform now,Liang said, noting that furthered friendly and cooperative relations serve the fundamental interests of the two armed forces.

Davinic said Serbia and Montenegro and China share similar views on many international issues, and the two nations and two armies have forged close connections and maintained good cooperation.

He expressed the hope that the two nations and two armies couldcontinue to promote cooperation in political and military fields.
