With Hungary's accession to the European Union, the cooperation between China and Hungary will enter into a new stage, said Chen Haosu, president of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) Tuesday.

Chen made the remark in a reception held by the CPAFFC to mark the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Hungary.

The two countries enjoy a long history of friendship, Chen said, expressing appreciation for Hungary's support and aid to China when the People's Republic of China was just founded.

Visiting State Secretary of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Andras Hajdu said Hungary attaches great importance to relations with China, adding that Hungary will stick to the "one-China" principle and make efforts for the development of bilateral relations.
