Senior official urges establishment of anti-corruption system
font size

A senior leader of the Communist Party of China (CPC) called Tuesday for the acceleration of the establishment of an anti-corruption system.

"We must run against time to establish a system to punish and prevent corruption," said Wu Guanzheng, secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, at a national conference on disciplinary inspection and supervision work.

According to Wu, also member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, the system should put equal stress on education, practices and supervision.

"To establish such a system is a significant strategic decision that the CPC has made in response to the latest anti-corruption situation," he said.

Wu said more efforts should be made to solve basic corruption-causing issues by cutting or eliminating the conditions that are helpful to the occurrence of corruption.

"We should enhance inspection and supervision of the implementation of the macro economic control policies and measures and unswervingly uphold the authority of central decisions."

"And, as you know, problems should be solved at the source," said Wu, claiming the anti-corruption theme should be embedded into major governmental policies during the decision making process.
