Cuban embassy gives reception to mark 44th anniversary of Sino-Cuban ties

A reception was held at the Cuban embassy in Beijing Tuesday to mark the 44th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and China.

Cuba-China relationship sets a good example for South-South cooperation, and for the cooperation based on equality, mutual benefits and mutual respects, said Alberto J. Blanco Silva, Minister Counselor of the Cuban embassy in Beijing, at the reception.

Cuba and China share much common grounds, support each other on issues of common concern and maintain agreement on key international affairs, he said.

Cuba and China have seen consistent growth of trade in recent years, with trade volume of the first half of this year increasing by 60 percent year-on-year, Silva said. He added that the cooperation between Cuba and China covers such fields as economy, science, culture and investment.

Frank Gonzalez Garcia, president of the Latin American News Agency, said at the reception that the journalists' work deepens the mutual understanding of the two peoples, and Cuba and China should continue to strengthen cooperation in the press.

Gonzalez is visiting China at the invitation of China's Xinhua News Agency.
