A senior Chinese official in Beijing Wednesday asked departments and localities at different levels nationwide to do several jobs of constructive nature so as to ensure the healthy growth of the juvenile.
"The jobs should mainly aim at several key juvenile groups," said Gu Xiulian, vice chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, at a forum on prevention of juvenile crimes.
"We should set up an information system for disengaged juveniles, promote the building of aid centers for orphans, enhance the construction of reform schools for juvenile delinquents and strengthen legal education for students in primary and middle schools," said Gu.
"New venues for juvenile activities and art are also necessary."
Gu said local governments would be required to make substantive efforts to "purify" school environments to shape more favorable study and growth surroundings for the students.
"We should also help students who are facing learning and living problems," she said.
