Macedonian president stresses adherence to one-China principle

Macedonian President Branko Crvenkovski stressed Wednesday his country's insistence on the one-China principle and readiness to promote friendly cooperation withChina in various fields, said reports from the Macedonian capital Skopje.

In a meeting with Chinese ambassador, Crvenkovski expressed satisfaction over the development of Sino-Macedonian ties after the normalization of the relations between the two countries in 2001.

Practice has proved that China is Macedonia's good friend, the president said. He noted that promoting the relations with China is one of the priorities of Macedonian diplomatic policy-making. Macedonia will make efforts with China to boost bilateral friendly cooperation in all areas.

Crvenkovski reiterated his country will firmly stand by China on the Taiwan issue and stick to the one-China principle continuously.
