Arab League (AL) chief Amr Moussa said in Cairo Thursday that the Israeli military operations in the Palestinian territories would only escalate the Palestinian resistance. Moussa told reporters that the Israeli occupation can only lead to Palestinian resistance, which can not be defeated.
Moussa's remarks came amid particular bloodshed Thursday between Palestinians and Israelis, which claimed about 20 lives on the two sides.
The Israeli army continued its large-scale military operation in northern Gaza Strip on Thursday while more clashes with Palestinian militants broke out.
Three members of Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and two Israeli soldiers were killed in a fierce clash near an Israeli outpost in the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Lahya Thursday, Palestinian sources told Xinhua.
Earlier in the day, a 17-year-old Palestinian was killed in an Israeli air strike on the eastern part of Jabalya refugee camp, Palestinian medical sources said, adding another three Palestinians were also killed by Israeli troops.
Later in the afternoon, an Israeli army tank shelled a crowd of Palestinians who were gathering in the eastern part of Jabalya refugee camp in northern Gaza, killing at least 10 people, witnesses said.
