Barbados leaders, Chinese FM meet on relations

Governor-General of Barbados Clifford Straughn Husbands, Prime Minister Owen S. Arthurand other senior officials met in Bridgetown with visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing to discuss relations between China and Barbados and international issues of common concern.

During the meetings, the two sides exchanged opinions in an in-depth way on relations between China and Barbados, relations between China and Caribbean countries and the proposed reform of the United Nations, reaching broad consensus.

The Barbados leaders and senior officials reiterated that Barbados supports China's position on the Taiwan issue and that the country will firmly stick to the One-China policy. Li expressed appreciation over the stand of Barbados.

Li and Arthur answered questions raised by reporters about bilateral relations.

Li arrived here on Sept. 30 for a two-day visit to Barbados at the invitation of Barbados Minister of Foreign Affairs and ForeignTrade Billie Miller.
