Spain, France to collaborate in anti-terrorist combat
font size

Spanish Interior Minister Jose Alonso and his French counterpart Dominique de Villepin will meet in Paris on Oct. 7 to discuss collaboration in the combat against terrorism.

The meeting will also be participated by Spain's Secretary of State for Security, Antonio Camacho as well as representatives from the French military, aerial and border police forces.

Spain has intensified its combat against terrorism under the government of Jose Rodriguez Zapatero, to a large extent as a consequence of the March 11 attacks in Madrid, which left about 200 dead.

The two interior ministers will define a common program on the combat against drug trafficking and create three specialized investigation centers based in Madrid, Andalucia and Galicia, official sources said.

They will also discuss the issue of the new European Borders Agency, which is designed to control the flow of migrants within the European Union (EU), the sources added.
