Eleven world-famous ceramic producing cities signed a cooperation declaration Tuesday in Jingdezhen, a city dubbed the "ceramics capital of China" in east China's Jiangxi province, promising to seek mutual benefit and promote the development of the ceramic industry in the world.
The declaration is part of a conference of mayors from 11 ceramic producing cities in China, the United States, Japan, the Republic of Korea (ROK), Britain, France, Italy and Germany at an on going international exposition of ceramics in Jingdezhen.
This year marks the millennium of the founding of the ceramics capital.
The signers of the declaration include the city of Stoke-on-Trent in Britain, the city of Limoges in France, Door County in the United States, the city of Icheon in ROK and the town of Aritacho of Japan.
The declaration calls for increased governmental exchange to create a favorable environment for non-governmental cooperation onthe ceramics industry between the cities.
It proposes world ceramic enterprises cooperate to avoid possible risk of the industry.
The declaration also calls for promoting "ceramic culture" in the world and strengthening cooperation on ceramics education and research.
Yu Guoqing, acting mayor of Jingdezhen, said a cooperation mechanism on the ceramic industry between producers can help make the ancient industry more energetic in the modern era.
