font size

Beijing developed a way of controlling the production and sales of firecrackers, as a way of prevent possible firecracker-related accidents.

According to the Beijing municipal administration for production safety supervision, the sale of fireworks are banned within a 100-meter radius of gas stations and other places that sell, produce or store flammable and explosive materials. Firecrackers stores are also banned within 50 meters of schools, gymnasiums, hospitals and other crowded public places.

No more than 150 kilograms of firecrackers is allowed to be stored at a single retail outlet, said the administration Tuesday.

The administration also calls for the establishment of a responsibility system for businesses that produce, store and sell fireworks.

Fireworks producers are also required to limit the number of workers at the production site and restrict the amount of materials used to make the fireworks.

In addition, a thorough inspection of fireworks producers and stores will be launched soon to clear up potential accident risks, according to the administration.
