The Indonesian outgoing President Megawati Soekarnoputri met with visiting Chinese guest Wu Guanzheng, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection at the Presidential Palace Wednesday in Jakarta.

Wu conveyed Chinese President Hu Jintao's greetings and goodwill wishes for President Megawati. He said, in recent years, the friendly relations between China and Indonesia have been enhanced and mutual trust deepened with the active efforts made by President Megawati.

While the economic and trade ties between the two countries have achieved significant progress, cooperation in the fields of science and technology, culture, tourism and other sectors has also made headway, which all displayed the all-round development in the mutual relations, he added.

Wu Guanzheng outlined Chinese consistent stance over the Taiwan issue and also expressed his appreciation for the Indonesian government's understanding and support for China's reunification.

Wu spoke highly of Indonesia's achievements in political, economic and social development, adding that the new generation of Chinese leadership has attached a great attention to the promotion of the relations between the two countries, and will also join efforts along with Indonesia to continue consolidating and deepening the mutual cooperation in all fields.

Megawati warmly welcomed the CPC delegation's visit to Indonesia and talked highly of the all-round positive development trend in the bilateral relations.

She said there has been deep-rooted traditional friendship between the peoples of Indonesia and China, and China is seen as a good neighbor and sincere friend of Indonesia.
