font size

Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf met visiting Chinese State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan Monday in Islamabad.

Tang conveyed President Hu Jintao's concern over the killing of the Chinese hostage in the recent past.

He urged the Pakistani side to take more effective measures to ensure the safety of Chinese working forces engaged in cooperative projects on Pakistan's soil.

For his part, Musharraf expressed his condolence over the death of the Chinese engineer and pledged to beef up security measures to protect Chinese personnel working in Pakistan.

The two sides also vowed to strengthen bilateral relations and exchanged views on global and regional issues.

Tang also met Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri during his two-day official good-will visit to Pakistan which started Sunday.

He left here later on Monday to continue his four-nation Asian tour, which will also take him to India, Malaysia and Thailand.
