Chinese Ambassador to Japan Wang Yi met with Japanese Foreign Minister Nobutaka Machimura Monday. The two sides shared the view that the current situation of "politically chilly and economically hot" China-Japan relations is abnormal, that it is not in the interests of the two peoples and should be put an end to.

Wang Yi said the political obstacles existing in the relationship between the two countries should be appropriately dealt with in strict accordance with the principles of the China-Japan Joint Statement and in the spirit of "drawing lessons from history and being forward-looking".

The two sides also exchanged opinions on questions such as delimitation and exploration in the East China Sea. Wang Yi articulated China's stand and the two sides agreed to look for appropriate settlement through dialogue.
