Chinese officials say some television stations in Europe, North America and Southeast Asia will begin broadcasting programs aimed at promoting the benefits and culture of traditional Chinese medicine or TCM. They say the programming will usher in a new push to popularize traditional Chinese medicines around the globe, according to CCTV.com.
This marks the first time China will introduce traditional Chinese medicine, one of the country's quintessential treasures, in such a concerted, overall way. Beyond television promotion, the project will also be pushed forward through other channels. These include through related international organizations, and various Chinese embassies and consulates. Foreign embassies and consulates in China and major newspapers will also join in the effort.
Shen Zhixiang, Dept. Director of State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, said: "We'll introduce the whole industry as well as the clinical effect of traditional Chinese medicines. Moreover, relative laws and regulations will also be included in the promotion. "
During the first step of the promotion, various handbooks, popular science articles and medical guides will be provided to the public. The second step will focus on personal training, followed by the setting up of related training centers.
