South Korea received a fresh terror threat on Tuesday which reminded South Korea time is running out for withdrawal of its troops in Iraq, reported South Korean Yonhap News Agency on Wednesday.
This week's warning appeared on an Islamic Web site on Tuesday, nine days after a self-proclaimed al-Qaida linked organization named "Martyr Hammoud Al-Masri Battalion" threatened to attack facilities in South Korea and its troops in Iraq unless those troops are pulled out in two weeks.
"This is a second warning to the agent South Korean government kneeling before the crusading Americans. You only have seven days or else we will burn Seoul and make it crumble," the second message said.
The latest message also urged South Korean people to compel their government to withdraw the troops, saying "If you do not pressure your government into leaving the pure Iraq, you will only have yourselves to blame when you are surrounded by a destroyed city."
South Korea said Wednesday it judges the latest threat's reliability as "relatively low," but its heightened alert against terrorism will continue, said Yonhap.
The country has 2,800 troops stationed in Iraq, the second-largest military contribution to the US-led operations there afterBritain. Seoul planed to send the rest 800 military personnel to Iraq in November.
