China is to launch another two "Fengyun-2" weather satellites by 2010 to cope with the crucial demands of weather forecasting and climate monitoring.
The Deputy Director-General of the National Satellite Meteorological Centre, Yang Jun, revealed the information when the first professional geostationary orbit meteorological satellite, Fengyun 2-C, was launched.
He says China is also developing a new generation of weather satellites. China has launched 7 weather satellites, including the Fengyun 2-C, since 1988.
